it seems that in BIROC we have had a small but noticeable influx of a handful of photographers into IU 450. anyone had any experience of organising among freelancers before? esp. arty professions?

No. But are you on the all-IWW email list? There's a fellow worker organizing tattoo artists, some slightly similar dynamics there, he's been talking about that on that email list. If you're not on there email me and I'll put you in touch w/ him.
