A progressive voice of the digital age, we are fighting for our digital freedoms in software, hardware and on the Internet. We watch for corporate abuse as well as promote knowledge and educate people about the dangers our rights currently face such as DRM and software patents. We do this with a focus on the Free Software movement and the ideals presented by the EFF, FSF, ACLU, and the hacker ethic.
Please support our social mission.

From the Internet to the iPod, technologies of freedom are transforming our society and empowering us as speakers, citizens, creators, and consumers. These technologies are increasingly under attack, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is the first line of defense, protecting our civil liberties in the networked world. EFF broke new ground when it was founded in 1990—well before the Internet was on most people's radar—and continues to confront cutting-edge issues defending free speech, privacy, innovation, and consumer rights today. From the beginning, EFF has championed the public interest in every critical battle affecting digital rights.

In Stockholm, Gothenburg and Helsinki commuters are taking the initiative in the public transportation. Buses, trams, commuter trains and subways are necessary for us to get around in society. We cannot choose to walk 5 kilometers if it does not suit us to pay the fare. The public transportation should be like the sidewalk - paid by all, free to walk on. It would be as absurd to charge for it, as charging for public transportation.

The "Friends of Labor" web site exists to share local perspectives on issues of importance to the harbor community. We're family, friends, homeowners and business people from throughout the Los Angeles harbor area who support the tenants of "live better, work union, shop local." Our intentions are to provide factual information on the issues at hand, to respond to many of the misleading stories popping up on anti-labor web sites, and to offer an alternate opinion to articles in print publications that are under increasing influence from major retail groups.

The KFPA Labor Collective produces radio shows about working people throughout Northern California. We broadcast news about labor issues, ranging from deregulation, discrimination and union organizing to healthcare, housing and international labor solidarity. Mainstream media usually censors labor news. We intend to change that.

The purpose of LaborTech is to bring together labor video, computer and media activists in the US and from around the world to build and develop labor communication technology and media. The first conference was held in 1990 and they have been held throughout the United States as well as Canada and Russia. Labor Media conferences are also held in Seoul. We believe that a critical task for labor is building a labor communication media movement that can tell our stories and break the corporate information blockade in every corner of the world.

Unity of All Rail Crafts: For decades, the carriers
have played one craft off against the other to our mutual detriment.
This lack of unity has contributed greatly to our lack of power, which
has in turn hampered our ability to negotiate and enforce good
contracts. We are unable to effectively confront the carriers on issues
of vital concern to our membership-attendance, crew fatigue,
discipline, safety, etc.-because we are divided. The carriers are
degrading and deskilling our crafts, implementing new technologies that
threaten our jobs, our safety and livelihoods, propose the dismantling
of FELA, demand drastic health care concessions, and more. In the face
of this aggressive attack, is there any doubt of the need for the

Many years ago the fledgling Seafarers International Union adopted the wearing of white hats to signify that they were untouched by the criminal element that infested the Longshormen's Union. We know for certain that this is a fraud and have suspected same for a number of years. Below you will find information from a member of the American Maritime Officers Union concerning donations made to two Mafia members by both the Maritime Defense League and the American Maritime Officers Legal Defense Fund. These donations of seafarers hard earned money were made without permission or knowledge of the rank and file members of those unions.

This site is dedicated to exposing the shady business practices of self styled entrepreneur Troy Melquist. His deceptions and disregard for his employees have gained the attention of government officials, the press, and labor unions. He has alienated his customers, angered his workers, disturbed his community, broken his promises, and hidden from responsibility. Yet through it all, Melquist continues to establish new businesses, such as his most recently failed RedCellX with the apparent purpose of bilking workers of their labor and customers of their cash.
