The Pittsburgh Anti Sweatshop Community Alliance and PITT Alumni Against Sweatshops are being hosted by the PITT Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild on Tuesday, March 23 from 6PM-9PM in the Kurtznman Room at the William Pitt Union.
SweatFree Communities, the International Labor Rights Fund, and the Pittsburgh Anti Sweatshop Community Alliance are pleased to be coordinating a visit by members of the Bangladesh Center for Workers Solidarity to Pittsburgh on Wednesday, April 28. Details TBA. EARLY BIRD Co-sponsors included: The National Labor Committee, William Russell Consulting Inc., State Senator Jim Ferlo, the Black Political Empowerment Project, Steel Valley Printers/USW Local 3403, Freedom Unlimited, and the Pittsburgh General Membership Branch of the Industrial Workers of the World. THANK YOU.
We have to raise a total of $2000.00 to cover the cost of this visit. We need political help mobilizing the participation of the State of Pennsylvania , Allegheny County , the City of Pittsburgh , and the Pittsburgh Pirates/Sports and Exhibition Authority.
Please consider making a financial contribution of between $50 and $200 and mailing a check to PASCA c/o Thomas Merton Center, 5125 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15224. Put "April Bangladesh Visit" in the memo line.
Educators, athletic event organizers, youth service providers, civil rights organizations, unions, faith congregations, business people, student groups… we are trying to mobilize the broadest possible range of organizations to welcome these workers and receive their testimony. Please respond to this email if you can help.
Learn more about these workers and their celebration of Martin Luther King Day in Bangladesh. Stay tuned for more info about our PITT event on March 23. The PITT event is for ALL students and anti sweatshop organizers in the Pittsburgh area, not just PITT students. Mark the two dates, March 23 and April 28… No Sweatshops Bucco!
Other important dates on our radar screen:
* B-PEP Jazz, Easter Monday April 5, buy tickets at all PASCA events
