Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. In 2004 the United
States (supported by France and Canada) staged a coup against Haiti’s
elected government. Haitian workers confront the most vicious face of
capitalism in the fields, sweatshops, and slums across the country.
In the Spring of 2008 the Industrial Workers of the World (I.W.W.) union
sent a delegation to Haiti to meet with and support unions and workers
organizations there, including the Confederation des Travailleurs Haïtiens
(CTH). On the 5th anniversary of the coup, come to a meeting on the
historical background, and current situation of workers in Haiti.
