In 2004 the United States (supported by France and Canada) staged a coup against Haiti’s elected government. Haitian workers confront the most vicious face of capitalism in the fields, sweatshops, and slums across the country. In the Spring of 2008 the Industrial Workers of the World (I.W.W.) union sent a delegation to Haiti to meet with and support unions and workers organizations there, including the Confederation des Travailleurs Haïtiens (CTH).
