I know many wobblies use other online forums quite regularly, but don't use these forums. Why is that? Is there any particular reason that people don't use these more? Is there anything that would need to change about these forums to make people use them more often?
Hey Nate, as I've mentioned in the past, i'm all for using the iww.org boards, but I don't feel they are all that accessible. I'm not sure the about the way they are set up by IU's. I guess that is nice to have (esp as the membership grows), but at the same time an expanded structure for theory, history, comments on IW stories and iww.org coverage, that sort of thing might appeal more to a new members and be beneficial general discussion w/in the union. Oh, and I like the way some other (unnamed) websites have a recent forum topics section posted right on the homepage, it's good for sparking folks' interest.
Well, That sounds good to me comrades. I like Libcom´s set up, and I could do something similar with our forums here, though my programing skills are not that great. I know how to use several different interfaces like Drupal. I don´t know what kind of site we are aiming for or if they´d like my assistance. I created a website for the socialist party in texas, you could check it out here: www.socialistpartyoftexas.org, the forums are in disuse but are more workable. We could have a collective effort to do something similar, but nicer looking here.

That is amazing, next time one of my idiot relatives tells me 'there are no atheists in foxholes' I'm shooting that right back at them.
Anyway, from what i understand the volunteers that run iww.org are quite overworked and can always use the extra help. I'm pretty sure I have the e-mail for the web administrator (at least I think he is also the web administrator), but if I don't Nate def does, PM one of us for and i'm sure any help you have to offer will be greatly appreciated.
And yeah, what it a placeholder?
I've personally know lots of atheists that are soldiers. If anything, to me war is one of the biggest reasons I don't believe in a merciful, all-powerful shitbag in the sky. Some humans are too cruel to have been created by a loving god, so that idea's out the door for me. Yeah, i'll get with you soon on the web admin stuff.
Peace.
dunno, but i get the impression that all the branch forums on here that apparently have no threads in them are set to private and therefore the threads are hidden. not sure how that could be set up though. perhaps mr web admin could advise us...?

Okay so I'm totally not used to the format of these forums yet, I'm a slow learner with computer stuff.
One question - is it possible to have discussions on here that nonmember can't read?
