Benefit Show for fired warehouse workers

Dear IWW friends,

On Saturday, June 9th, the Young Democratic Socialists are putting on a concert and potluck fundraiser in support of IWW immigrant workers. YDS and IWW speakers will provide information about the ongoing struggle by working people at three major warehouses:

- Handyfat Trading Corp., where workers endured terrible working conditions and illegal wages that were finally overcome with the help and support of the IWW in late 2005;

- Amerisino Marketing Corp., guilty of other management abuses, such as illegally firing several union leaders; Amerisino workers recently broke through the Chinese/Latino ethnic split common in such warehouses;

- Sunrise Plus Corp. (aka E-Z Supply), where workers were nearly given an adequate pay and vacation time increase, but just as the contract was being formalized, the company changed their name and fired all the unionized warehouse workers.

The event, starting at 8 PM, will consist of three live bands and the remarkable DJ Rench. With an eclectic style, DJ Rench combines a country-music twang with the beats and soul of hip-hop, producing a unique, innovative sound.
