Amnesty for All Imigrants and Freedom for Mumia Abu Jamal
Mumia Abu-Jamal is an award winning journalist and former Black Panther Party member who was convicted of murder (a false conviction for which he almost certainly is innocent) in 1982. He is still on death row, despite a federal court ruling (3rd Circuit) certifying three issues for appeal. This case is on "fast-track" and Mumia's life is still in imminent danger.
A huge wave of demonstrations and protests rocked the nation on May Day, as hundreds of thousands took to the streets all across the United States, demanding social justice for immigrants and the right to legally work in this country. It was a labor issue, a call from the working class itself.
This demonstration is being organized jointly by the Labor Action Committee and Basio Unido.
The Bay Area IWW voted to endorse this event at its June 2006 General Membership Branch meeting.
