There are many ways you can help the Bay ARea IWW; the following suggestions are probably the best way to "skin the cat":
(1) Organize Your Workplace - There is no substitute for organizing the unorganized at the point of production. The more the working class organizes, the stronger it shall be and the closer we shall move towards industrial democracy.
(2) Help the IWW Set Up Literature & Information Tables at Political Events - Members of the Bay Area IWW set up tables at regular events (such as May Day, Labor Fest, the Anarchist Book Fair, and the People's Park Anniversary) and major demonstrations, but we are always looking to increase our presences at additional events. We increase our visibility, reach more potential members, and raise much needed organizing funds by tabling. The best way to support the IWW, short of organizing in the workplace is by helping us set up a litearture table. We need as many volunteers to help us in these efforts as we can get. If you know of an event where we should set up an IWW table, please call us at (510) 845-0540; be prepared to help the IWW with the table.
(3) Organize an IWW Contingent at Marches and Demonstrations - We can increase our visibility and reach more potential members by organizing IWW "blocks" at these events. Also, what better way to soapbox and to put those Little Red Songbooks to good use? If you would like to organize an IWW contingent, complete with IWW banners and picket signs, please call us at (510) 845-0540. Plan to be a part of the contingent.
(4) If you are an IWW member, stay current in you dues. If you are not currently a member of the IWW, join the One Big Union. If you are not ready to join at present, or if you are a dues paying Wobbly and want to help out the OBU further, donate money to the Bay Area IWW. Send donations, made out to "IWW" to the address listed above.
(5) If you haven't done so already, sign our Pledge of Solidarity and return it to the address listed on the Pledge Form, and join our action mailing / phone list.
(6) If you are a Bay Area IWW member, attend Bay Area IWW meetings - Our union works best if all members participate and democracy flourishes best with maximum participation. Remember, fellow workers, democracy is a team effort, not a spectator sport. Don't let the most active members make all the decisions for you.
