Society in the hands of the workers! ---- We neither fear you nor will we pay for your
crisis ---- Your financial system has failed ---- Capitalism and governments are the real
crisis ---- Society in the hands of the workers! ---- Two worlds collide: ---- On the one
hand, society, the world of labour, the unemployed, who are suffering the effects of the
harshest attack in recent years (wage cuts, job losses and terrorism from the bosses), all
of us who have to take loans to survive from month to month, all of us have been forced to
survive in the galleys of modern cities by a rotten, corrupt and unjust system and quits
to work to cope on profits of companies and enterprises. ---- On the other hand, the
“socialist” government, PASOK politicians, New Democracy, the LAOS fascists, who along
with the European Union and its bankers, businessmen, and everyone around them, who talk

For some time now the Venezuelan government has made systematic advances in the
reorganization of the national police intelligence system, with the intention of
discovering and neutralizing autonomous social movements that appear in the country. The
Intelligence and Counterintelligence Law (temporarily suspended) and the new Bolivarian
Intelligence Service (SEBIN in Spanish) are but two examples of this. In order to promote
the necessary knowledge on this issue among activists, we give an informative recap of the
different tactics used by the State to break up the antagonistic social fabric and
criminalize its followers. ---- _The State’s intelligence tactics_ ---- These tricks were
developed and/or systematized by the COINTELPRO program of espionage, provocation and
information the FBI used to destroy dissident political groups in the United States. They

They force the City Council to call a special session devoted only to the question of
housing and to discussing the tenants' postulates. This was a good example of direct
action, as the tenants refused to let the council meet on anything else; some eventually
took to the presidium where there was heated debate with the Chair and other politicians,
including the Vice President. ---- One interesting thing was the reaction of municipals
guards. Already the last two session were interrupted by KOL (Tenants' Defense Committee,
which members of ZSP* are part of) and the guards did not react. This time, the Chair of
the Council asked them to "make order" which us, but all they did was come and try to talk
and ask not to keep disrupting. We said "we aren't leaving and take over until our demand
is met" and officers then went away and made no attempts to remove people, despite appeals

From 1962 to 2000, the Israeli far left was embodied by Matzpen, a newspaper and an
organization that left a strong mark on the Israeli peace and pro-Palestinian movements.
Reading Israeli newspapers headlines from between 1968 and 1971 (there were more than a
dozen at that time), it might seem that Israel had three main parties: the Labour Party,
Gahal (the future Likud) and... the Israeli Socialist Organization, better known as
Matzpen ("The Compass"), the name of its monthly journal. As subscribers to the "Argus de
la presse" press monitor, every week we received dozens of clippings from various
newspapers. Matzpen was a name known to all and, as the voice of the enemy within, was
accused in the media and on the streets (though not the police, well-informed as they
were) of all possible crimes imaginable, from the attack on the oil refineries in Haifa to

8 March: International Day of Working Women -- Year after year the 8 March - International
Day of Working Women - is responsible for a small commercial boom in shops selling
clothes, makeup, flowers and all those other products aimed at us women; it often happens
too that on this day, State and private institutions provide some sort of treat or reward
for certain women, as if this act could lead to an improvement in the working and cultural
conditions that both exploit and oppress women in Huancayo, in Peru, or throughout the
world. This leads us to ask whether 8 March has been reduced to a 24-hours opportunity for
shouting "Happy Women's Day!" to the four winds... --- Certainly not, but we must remember
the struggle that some textile workers launched on 8 March 1857, when they demanded the
right to work and more dignified conditions; the same way that in the year 1908, the

On March 15, protest actions took place at Green Way restaurants in Wroclaw, Warsaw,
Olsztyn and Lodz. At the Wroclaw restaurant, the local Food Not Bombs collective joined
ZSP and, with the slogan "Free Work, Free Food", the activists gave out free food at the
entrance to the blocked restaurant. The idea was that, since the restaurant does not want
to pay workers, why not go one step further - and not charge people for eating? ---- At
the Wroclaw action, former employees cheated by the restaurant took part and when the boss
came out to complain about the free food, demanded their salaries. ---- By all accounts,
the free food was much better than the frozen fast food crap at the vegetarian McDonalds.
The owner of the restaurant called the police but open arriving, they went into the
restaurant and then went away, refusing to do anything about the action.

How do we, as anarchists, differ from others in how we view organization? Or more
specifically, how does our view of individuality differ from the common misconception of
anarchism as the “absence of all accountability”. This essay will describe anarchist
accountability and how it differs from the types of accountability we’re trying to
replace. Implementing accountability in all of our practices is fundamental to our
effectiveness now in our practice and how it prefigures the kind of society that we want
to replace the existing society. ---- Anarchist Accountability ---- “This disease of
disorganization has invaded the organism of the anarchist movement like yellow fever and
has plagued it for decades…There can be no doubt, however, that this disorganization has
its roots in a number of defects of theory, notably in the distorted interpretation of the

Ghassan Ali is a 3rd-generation Palestinian refugee. His grandparents were driven from
their village in present-day Israel. He and his parents were born in refugee camps in the
Gaza Strip. As a child, he threw stones in the First Intifada (1987-1993). He recounts his
journey to Alternative Libertaire and explains his position as a libertarian communist in
the PFLP [1] and the path he sees for the Resistance. ---- What's the situation in Gaza
since the war in January? ---- Gaza is still at an impasse. On the one hand, the
humanitarian situation continues to degrade. The blockade imposed by Israel and the
international community has locked us in this ghetto, where the people are faced with
destruction, hunger and a sanitary catastrophe. Over 40,000 houses and buildings were
destroyed and their inhabitants, who have been living in tents and camps, have faced their

The Israel Defense Forces yesterday designated Bil'in and Na'alin as closed military areas
every Friday until mid-August, in a bid to halt the weekly demonstrations against the
separation fence in those West Bank villages. ---- On Sunday night dozens of troops, some
wearing masks, entered the villages and plastered storefronts and home windows with
notices announcing the closure order signed by the GOC Central Command, Maj. Gen. Avi
Mizrahi. ---- The order officially runs from February 18 to August 17. The 12-hour closure
will apply to the area stretching from the separation fence to the edge of the villages'
built-up areas. ---- Weekly demonstrations against the fence have been held in Bil'in for
the past five years. Over the last three years the villages of Na'alin and Al-Ma'sara have
also become weekly protest spots, attracting not only Palestinians but activists from

The horrific death toll from the earthquake in Haiti briefly focused the world’s attention
on the plight of the Haitian people. The earthquake was a natural disaster coming on top
of decades of human disasters imposed upon the people as its economy has been forced to
transform to suit the needs of transnational corporations. This is the reason so many
people were packed into substandard accommodation in Port-au-prince. ---- Those who want
to turn all of Haiti into one vast low wage sweatshop have used the earthquake to advance
their agenda. On the day it occurred, the US Heritage Foundation issued a statement
arguing that "the U.S. response to the tragic earthquake in Haiti earthquake offers
opportunities to re-shape Haiti’s long-dysfunctional government and economy."

Partnership! Well, labor and capital may be partners in theory, but they are enemies in
fact. – JOHN L. LEWIS; President, United Mine Workers of America; 1936 ---- If you
contract out, union-bust, or otherwise make it impossible for workers and students to have
an organized voice, you don’t shut them up, you just get collective bargaining by riot.
ELAINE BERNARD; Director, Harvard Law School Labor & Worklife Program; 2002 ---- Pomona
College is the site of active class struggle. The food service workers of Pomona College
are now in open conflict with the corporate administration of Pomona College over their
attempts to organize an independent union. They fight for dignity, justice and respect.
Their employer, Pomona College, seeks only the ability to continue its exploitative
practices. The College rejects even their basic demand for an agreement against

What game are the trade union leaders playing? ---- Since the middle of January civil and
public servants have engaged in a work-to-rule in an attempt to force a reversal of the
pay cuts announced by the government in the December budget. Across the country workers in
government offices, colleges, schools, hospitals etc. are taking action, which they hope
will result in a change of government policy. ---- Up to 300,000 public service workers
have had their pay cut by up an average of 16% (‘pension levy’ + income levy + pay cut) in
just over 12 months and they are rightly angry. They know that the wealthy that caused the
financial crisis are getting off scot-free and that government policy is all about making
ordinary workers shoulder the cost of the bank bailout, NAMA etc.

This weekend the Israeli anarchists against the wall initiative were involved in even more
struggles in more locations that become regular fronts: Beit Jalla, Bait Omar, Bil'in, Jeb
Altheeb, Ma'asara, Nabi Saleh, Ni'ilin, Sheikh Jarrah. The state forces continued half
heartedly to prevent the access of demonstrators to come to Bil'in and Ni'ilin but failed.
Many activists continued from the noon demonstrations to the one at Sheikh Jarrah. Last
night (Monday early morning) at 02:00 AM, state forces entered the village. Many copies of
a document was posted around the whole village. This document declared that Israeli and
international activists were strictly prohibited from entering Bil'in between the hours of
8 am and 8 pm on every Friday, the day in which the weekly demonstration takes place.

A special report from the February 2010 issue of the monthly libertarian Alternative: One
year after the Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip and its 1,400 victims, the
situation of the Palestinian population is dramatic. While a UN report confirms that the
IDF has engaged in war crimes in January 2009, Israeli leaders are not low profile.
Netanyahu continued to refuse a freeze on settlements, Barack Obama gives a free hand to
the Zionist state, and the prospect of another war, even a reoccupation of Gaza are not
excluded. Solidarity needed. At the invitation of Palestinian society, the anti-colonial
world are mobilized in the campaign Boycott Divestment and Sanction (BDS).

Most likely, even without the explosions of 1999, the anti-war movement would have been
miserable, but afterwards it did barely existed. It took 3 months after the beginning of
the war for the anti-war movement to gather enough courage to get out in the streets. The
first people to demonstrate in Moscow in December of 1999 were Anarchists. Apparently some
sorry pickets had already taken place in other cities. Soon after other groups appeared as
well (liberals and Trotskists), and the question of cooperation became an issue.---In this
respect, the movements in Moscow and St. Petersburg developed in different directions.--In
St. Petersburg, all anti-war groups (anarchists, liberals and Trotskists) agreed upon a
common anti-war picket, in which everyone was to participate with their own political
symbols. In Moscow liberals did not want political symbols present in the pickets, but due
