Goals. Then Strategy. Then Tactics. Part II of II

Submitted by J. Pierce on Παρ, 05/09/2008 - 2:56pm.
This column was originally intended for the November 2007 issue of the Industrial Worker. Goals. Then Strategy. Then Tactics. Part II of II By: J. Pierce Last month we talked about goals, strategy, and tactics. We called forth our visions--our ultimate goals. As an example, we said: “Free food for every human being.” Then we came up with intermediate goals: “Workers domination of the agriculture and food stuff industry.” But to feed ourselves this week, our immediate goal was a pay raise. Next, we planned out a strategy--both to get us that pay raise and to set us on our way to our dreams. We designed our strategy to unite around immediate necessities and build our strength to achieve the impossible. Our strategy groups workers into shop floor and industrial committees. Workers group together in many ways, however, so we’ll work with what the situation calls for. To implement this strategy, we’re going to select tactics.

Don't be fooled. The right hates you!

Submitted by Attack Ferret on Παρ, 05/02/2008 - 3:50pm.
I was talking with one co-worker who was telling me about why he supports the Republicans. He told me that he did not want to share his money with lazy people who do not want to work. He went on saying how there are ladies driving caddies and collecting food stamps (we all heard of the myth of the welfare queens, right?) He also told me that these guys who stand under viaducts panhandling motorists for change earn more money than I do. Now I will grand you, I am no Donald Trump. I do not have a six figure income or even half of six figures. But I find it hard to believe that being a professional begger can net you enough bread to pay your mortgage every month. In fact I would wager that those cats who stand with squeegies offering to wash your car or who claim to want just enough money to catch a bus home don'e even have a home to go to. My bud at work went on to say that if a person can get in a position where they are billionaires than he salutes them and thinks they are entitled to their wealth. This leaves a sour question in my mind though, just how does one turn over six or seven figures?

UTAH PHILLIPS URGENTLY NEEDS OUR HELP

Submitted by Sparrow on Κυρ, 04/06/2008 - 3:45am.

Utah Phillips is very, very ill. He can no longer perform and urgently needs financial help. He has given so much to the One Big Union and progressive people everywhere. Now is the time to show him what we learned from him and to put into practice the solidarity he taught us.

I.W.W. Musician, Singer, Poet, Writer, and, most of all Organizer - Utah Phillips has spent his life uplifting the spirits of all struggling against the bosses to build a better world. At all his concerts he had it stipulated that wobblies would be present to fundraise and organize.

He has been the voice for "...all those thousands of unnamed wobblies buried in unmarked graves throughout the west." Don't let that voice go unanswered.

Cards, messages and money can be sent to:
