retailworker.org

I while back I attempted to post on retailworker.org. The website, as you may know, is a project that was taken over by the IWW is in linked from out international site. The only problem being: the site is far from a empowering place for workers to post. I spent just about all my time on the site arguing with right-wing 'libertarian' nut-jobs and rabid immmigrant bashers. I spent just about no time actual discussing organizing or issues that affect workers. I was wondering, has anyone else had a more positive experience? If not, how should the IWW and individual wobblies respond? Anyone have any ideas?

I wanted to keep this thread alive as discussion on libcom seemed to favor jettisoning retailworker.org. I was thinking, do you think we should write a letter to the GOB discussing our concerns and see if we can get other Wobs to give us some feedback (even via this post)? If it were to be decided jettisoning retailworker.org is a good idea, how would we go about proposing that? Do you submit it as a motion to the GEB? What's the procedure?

Yes, I don't believe retailworker.org was the project of a specific branch and not the result of any Assembly or referendum action prohibiting doing anything else in the interim; therefore, it's the GEB's call for now.  The GEB was trying to farm it out to some IU660s -- at least that was the plan.  Of course, IU660 is mixed products distribution and retail, and not just anyone who sells something, but don't even get me started on that.  The only branch I recall kicking-up a fuss when it was proposed we drop it a few years ago was Chicago.  I was in favor of keeping it at the time, just because of the huge volume of traffic on the site and the opportunity to use that to do some education work with people.
