IWW Orientations

Submitted by PB 530 on Po, 08/15/2005 - 10:41pm.

Fellow Workers,

The Chicago General Membership Branch of the IWW presents Orientation sessions every month for new members and those interested in the IWW.

The sessions are about one hour long and include discussion of general IWW principles and structures as well as a primer on current local organizing projects.

They take place on the third Sunday of the every month at 5:30PM.

Contact the Chicago GMB for more information.

Thanks Chicago wobs for presenting you Orientation class at GA.  I think the union-wide application of orientations is going to take off.  I want to push for calling them Introductions to the IWW, however. The reasoning is that they could be used for the public and curious workers who aren't or don't want to be "new members" yet.

What are your thoughts?

it seems like a reasonable idea to me, but I dropped out when the orientation committee swallowed the forum committee to become the education department.

We actually advertise the sessions to both new members and non-members.  but their is no reason why we can't call it a primer on the IWW or something like that.  it might actually bring more people in.
