ABOUT TIME - The May-June edition

Thu, 05/08/2008 - 9:43pm

Well it is a bit of a joke that ABOUT TIME was a tad late - but what the Hell we can live with it.

Putting it here gives you some extra options. For example if you want extra copies of the mag for that next demo/meeting/whatever you can, (having made a few arrangements with you friendly local photcopy place) download the file and email it to them and they can print up a few more copies for you. Lot quicker than getting it sent over from Albany. Cheaper also as it saves all that postage.

More content for the next edition wanted already.

When you don't know or have forgotten why it is the IWW advocates the aboliton of the wages system.....

Thu, 05/01/2008 - 1:59am

The IWW is a revolutionary organisation because it advocates the abolition of the current system of production--the wages system.  This distinguishes us from garden variety leftist groups as we are not just asking for parts of the social product of our labour e.g.

Raving on Ruddism by "Class Actions"

Mon, 04/21/2008 - 2:55am
New labour ie Blair & Rudd just like Margaret Thatcher and John Howard have a neo liberal outlook.

Gillard was quoted saying that they are going to bring in legislation to allow employers to spy on their employees emails. I suspect many employers do that already but it just shows how anti worker people like Rudd and Gillard are. Not only this Gillard has been egging on the Australian Building and Construction Commission to hit the CFMEU and its members on the job. The Crime - Industrial action or in the case of Craig johnston standing up for his members.

Why higher wages don't cause inflation...

Sat, 03/22/2008 - 7:25pm
Price rises are not always the result of inflation.  Supply and demand for a product of labour or a natural resource can drive prices up and down around their value.  The inflation of prices has to do with the supply of the commodity we all know as money.  Money is what we use to exchange commodities in our society.  Money is used to circulate these commodities, including the one commodity workers must sell in order to make a living—their labour power.

Tom Glynn (1915) - "Industrial Efficiency and Its Antidote"

Wed, 03/19/2008 - 7:37am
If indications count for anything, Australia is shortly going to be quite up to date in the science of exploitation. Though local exploiters have never exhibited any other tendencies than those characteristic of their class throughout the world in this respect, still their economic experts and politicians, Labor and Liberal alike, would appear to be of the opinion that there are a few tips on the "scientific" management of labour which their Australian paymasters would do well to study. So the various State Governments have jointly agreed to import a gentleman from U. S.
